Lesson 14: The Story of the Birth of Moses
BIBLE READING: Exodus 2: 1-10
Moses was born a long time ago in Egypt. But he was not an Egyptian. He was an Israelite. At that time the Pharaoh of Egypt gave an order that every newborn baby boy was to be thrown into the Nile River and killed, but baby girls could live. Can you imagine the sadness parents had when a baby boy was born? But Moses's mother hid Moses for 3 months. When she realised that she could not hide him any longer she made a plan to put baby Moses in a basket and left him by the river Nile. Pharaoh daughter found him and took Moses to the palace to look after him.

After some time, there was famine in Canaan, Joseph’s country. In Egypt where Joseph was, there was plenty of food and Joseph was in charge. Jacob sent Joseph’s brothers to go and buy food. When they arrived in Egypt, they met Joseph but they never remembered him. Joseph remembered them.
When the brothers discovered that Joseph was their brother that they had sold to the Ishmaelites, they bowed before him just like Joseph had dreamt.
Later, their father came over too and dwelt in a good part of Egypt called Goshen.
They all lived happily ever after and they became many in number.
